A formal introduction into blog society...

Salutations!

My name is Steph Kaethler and I am a first year Education Student in the Early Years stream at the U of Manitoba. But before I begin expressing my future aspirations about my chosen profession, I shall lay a little groundwork as to how I came here.

I started my academic career in Saskatchewan, in a small town of 800 people. After completing Grade 10, my family moved to Yorkton, a city 45 minutes away. I graduated from the Yorkton Regional High School in 2003 and began post secondary studies at Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg, MB. After a first year filled with interesting and diverse courses, I quickly realized that my strengths had not changed from high school - History and English were still my forte. I graduated from CMU with a General Arts in 2005 and the U of Winnipeg with an Arts degree - History major and English minor - in 2006.

My interest in technology has increase in the past two years - mostly because I married a man who could could be adequately described as a "techie." Since then, I have become quite excited not only by the up and coming technological advancement post on digg.com but also with science fiction movies.

Finally, my interest in teaching. I am excited to be working with the Early Years stream as the students are naturally curious and (mostly) excited to learn new ideas. As well, most of my gifts, such as storytelling, singing and creativity, fit better with this age group.

Well, this post is getting lengthy and time is growing short.....

Goodbye for now.
